What is a propmaster?

Propmasters are responsible for anything an actor holds, touches or mentions. This is a very broad term. A director once told that I was doing everything noone else wanted to. It is also part of my job to tell the story. The story can be told with a piece of paper, an envelope, a watch, or anything else that could help tell the story. What is it that you enjoy about your job?

I've been a propmaster now for around 40 years. It's the role I play in telling stories that I enjoy. How do you select the watch for a film?

When I deconstruct a script, i list every character and imagine what they would wear. Even if a character says, "I don't have a watch because I have a cellphone," which is more common than I like, I will still imagine the watch that each character has.
